October 19, 2021 - Purchased at Moreson in South Africa in 2015 and subsequently forgotten about, a cold Fall evening and pizza seemed like a good chance to open it. 15 minutes after popping the cork, this is loaded up with blueberry, sour cherry and earth. Fruit has slowly started to turn tertiary but the acid is still hanging strong. A really nice true version of pinotage, and fun to see a bottle like this age gracefully.

February 6, 2021 - Pleased to be trying this again. Med (+) ruby. Med (+) aromas of black fruit, smoky, roasted peppers, dried herbs, chocolate and spice. Subtle, elegant French oak. Dry, but fruit-forward. Med acidity, med., resolved tannins. The alcohol is high at 14.5% but is perceived more at med (+). Full-bodied, with med (+) intensity and length. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel, with a slight bitterness on the finish. Still one of the best, cleanest Pinotages I have ever had. Close to its peak, but it should show well for a couple more years.

May 30, 2020 - There are earth notes in the wine, but the leading flavor is that of juicy black cherry and plum. There are also graphite notes. It’s really a sipping delight. Without a doubt, it is the best Pinotage we’ve had.

September 25, 2019 - Tasted blind. Medium (+) ruby. The nose is medium in intensity, a little closed, still developing, with ripe red fruit, black fruit, cured meat and licorice. Some French oak but fairly neutral. Dry, but with plenty of sweet fruit. Med acidity, med tannins. The alcohol is high at 14.5% but is perceived more at med (+). Called it a New World, moderate climate Shiraz. Actually one of the best, cleanest Pinotages I have ever had. It will show well for a couple more years.

November 7, 2015 - Strong pinot noir notes, robust; no coffee / chocolate: food thing!
