  October 7, 2020 - Decanted for 3 hours, notes of black fruit, cedar and violets. Bold black cherry, licorice, plum and blueberry flavors. Grippy tannins and crushed rocks on the finish.

  July 23, 2020 - Drank alongside a 2013 Caymus Special Selection, and I must say that I thought the VV would blow my socks off, yet it did not. Still a good wine, just missed the mark last night. Earthy aromas followed by muted flavors of currant, mocha and black cherry. The finish was smooth but I felt the tannins were almost nonexistent. Hopefully it just need some more time.

  July 6, 2020 - This ripe but tense wine needs another few years to unfold, since it is still reticent and tightly coiled after several hours of air. Dark purple in color; full in body; nose of boysenberry, menthol, and charcoal. Condensed flavors of sour cherry, leather, and anise, with a dry but pleasant finish. 14.8% alcohol. There are plush and welcoming 2013s in this world, but this isn’t one of them. I imagine it will be impressive sometime, but I doubt it will be before 2022. 93+ at the moment.
