September 18, 2021 - This wine does not taste 9 years old. Decanted for 1 hour Still very vibrant and youthful. Black raspberry, a cassis and a touch of mint on the nose. The vanilla, baking spice is in the background. Paired with grilled ribeye, baked potato and garden salad. The palate shows full-body, medium acidity and medium tannins. Still quite tannic on the tongue and roof of the mouth. Just a touch hot at this point. Long finish.

If you have bottles in your cellar, you can keep them for 5-10 years

August 15, 2021 - First time with Barrett & Barrett. Decanted 90 min. Dark as nite, only slight bricking on the edges.

Fairly simple nose, blackberry and black cherry, which matched the palate, but the palate added black olive and dried bing cherries. Glided over the palate, fine by drying tannins. Plenty of tannin and acid to go a while in a cellar. Seemingly young?

At 3 hrs, the wine opened showing a beautiful perfume bouquet, but the tannins became more prevalent and locked down the fruit and the finish a bit. Good fruit and good winemaking on display here.

For whatever reason, this drank better at slightly above cellar temp. 95 for 2.5 hrs, 94 thereafter.

This was delicious but with little room in the cellar it is not a buy for me.

May 5, 2021 - This wine was gone before we even realized we had started. So smooth and flavorful. Did not decant. Opened and poured glass after glass. It’s in a great place right now.

November 8, 2020 - Very very young. I think this needs a few more years. The fruit was there, but very muted and was struggling to shine through. I will drink the next one one a few years.
