January 2, 2024 - New Years Day. Only bottle of this wine showing well. Drink or hold

February 21, 2021 - Nose reminds me of an Old Fashioned cocktail. On the palette, the primary fruit has mostly faded to an umami richness of licorice, juicy steak, and a drop of whiskey with orange zest. Med acid and tannin. Quite enjoyable, but for my taste I prefer younger, fruity Zins. Follow up: apparently this vineyard produces dark, brooding, un-fruity Zins.

August 15, 2020 - Initially, dark and plumlike with a very subdued nose, but once it opened the fruits became more lively with a blackberry and prune lead with some really expressive allspice and root beer undertone. it aged quickly once it got some air; would definitely drink up in the next year or two if you have any bottles remaining.

May 3, 2020 - Not quite up to the level of the 2013 Bedrock Limerick Lane, which showed more complexity and freshness.

February 1, 2020 - About the same as a bottle five months ago. Opened (not decanted) about 90 minutes before tasting, and it did not change a whole lot over the ensuing hour or two. Unlike the last time, I did get a fair amount of fruit on the nose, red stuff like strawberries and red raspberries. Fruit on the palate was exclusively red, and I tend to prefer darker fruit flavors. Medium body with good acidity. Solid fruit-driven finish. A good wine, but somewhat disappointing given its pedigree.

(Carlisle Zinfandel Limerick Lane Vineyard) Medium ruby color; lifted, ripe red berry, roasted red fruit, tart berry, pastry crust nose; rich, tasty, ripe berry, black cherry palate with some acidity; could use 1-plus year and should go 8-10; medium-plus finish
