  March 19, 2023 - Gorgeous wine from one of my favorite Napa producers. Truly the best of the best - representing only four barrels of a single Vineyard block with the best fruit of the vintage.
  
  First tried this wine at a tasting at CDV about two years ago. Cracked open my first of two bottles and don’t regret it one bit. In a perfect drinking window right now. Very soft tannins but fantastic fruit - lots of blackberry and vanilla on the palate with some nice earthiness on the nose. Drink now or in the next two or three years before the fruit begins to decline.

  December 12, 2020 - Drinking really well now. Blackberry, black current, spice, minerality and dusty tannins on the mid palate. Decanted for an hour, crowd pleaser.

  June 30, 2017 - Tasted at Clos du Val today, this wine bottled in 750ml bottles for the first time at $110 winery retail, made from the best 4 barrels in a special block of Cabernet Sauvignon, nose of blackberry, and more blackberry, hints of black cherry, and fig, same on the palate, big body, smooth, rich, tasty, great potential in 4 years, mouth filling fruit, soft tannins on the mid palate, and a long finish.

  May 23, 2017 - Garnet with ruby rim; nose of graphite, vanilla and cassis; palate follows nose with pronounced cassis, wood and hints of tar; well balanced with silky tannins, great acidity and long finish; wonderful effort, but price point seems a touch high
