October 28, 2022 - My first Cappella and Abreu (outside of Rothwell). Bought this on the secondary market from BWG a few months ago knowing I would open this up for my birthday weekend.
Headed down to Charleston and brought this to Melfi's. Was splash decanted while we enjoyed cocktails. Very nice nose, silky smooth tannins, but I could see those holding bottles to wait another 5-10 years to see how this comes around. One of the most enjoyable bottles I have ever tasted. Will need to search out addition Abreu bottles.4 people found this helpful Comments (8) -

August 13, 2022 - Battle of the best: Abreu Cappella 2013, Seven Stones 2012 and Chateau Pavie 2009. All were excellent and I will rate them the same. Brad Grimes is one of the best winemakers out there. His wines are consistent and I really love his style; full-bodied and translucent. Seven Stones 2012 is still going strong. I rated it highly upon release and it has maintained its energy, tension and full flavors. Pavie took the most time to come around and when it did, it was awesome. I don't know if it is in a shut down phase or not because I am not an expert on Bordeaux but it did come around.
It was a fun night!1 person found this helpful Comment -

June 15, 2022 - Decanted over cocktails. Masculine, interesting nose of grilled bread and cocoa nibs. Intense, silky palate of pure black fruit with strong, somewhat disjointed tannins that didn't settle down over 90 minutes. I'd hold for a bit to let the tannins integrate. 96+

March 17, 2021 - Really just sensational. A blockbuster out of the gate, opens with sweet, sweet notes of cherries and black fruit, with a long, lush finish. Feel really lucky to have been able to try this.

December 2, 2019 - Need to go a little off the path on this one. A LOVELY wine, just strarting to soften up a bit. But WHY does it cost so much? The 2010 (about the equal of this one) released at 350 and auctions at 250. This released at 500 bucks? At some point these folks are going to have to get back down to earth. 2015 Canon auctions in the mid-200s. Probably one of the best wines of the last 15 years for Bordeaux varietal fans. As I said - a LOVELY wine, but something has to change in the business model of this producer.
