December 11, 2018 - Well, after coincidentally drinking the previous two bottles on 10/11/16 and 11/11/17, I had to try to drink my last one tonight and amazingly succeeded in that endeavor, so here we are.

Still pretty dense coloring, with purplish ruby edges. Aromas of dark fruits, violets, graphite, fennel, and dried spices. Medium body, medium(+) acid, and long, spicy finish, with flavors of tart black fruits like black raspberry, lemon, and minerals. Worked well with a vegetarian lentil chili tonight and drinking well now and I'd imagine for at least a few more years.

November 11, 2017 - This is drinking great right now. Dense coloring with garnet to ruby at the edges. Aromas of chocolate, coconut, violet, dark fruits, sourdough, and graphite. Fantastic aromatics; clearly oak driven but does not smell like oak or wood in general. Medium body, medium(+) acid, long finish, pretty integrated tannins, but enough for grip, and flavors of black and blue fruits, black tea, tobacco, licorice, orange peel, and lemon. The citrus notes really tease out the finish. Mid-palate's a little hollow, so it's a slightly awkward transition, but otherwise, a pretty solid RdD.

Maybe I should drink the last one 12/11/18...

October 11, 2016 - Lighter, easier style RdD that seems like it's for nearer term consumption. Medium ruby color w/ some transparency. Kind of tight on the nose with a bit of dark fruit and mineral hinting out. Light to medium body, medium acid and finish, light on the attack, but shows up middle through the finish, with flavors of dark fruits, licorice, and minerals. Not too complex, and a fairly straightforward wine. Prob. a good option for non-wino company, and worked fine w/ Mexican takeout tonight.

July 31, 2016 - A little thinner than expected. A decent appetizer wine.

    May 24, 2016 - Decanted.
Medium-plus intensity aromas. Showing its youthfulness as well as barrel accents. Baking spices of clove and nutmeg are heady and meld into scents of violets, sandalwood, blackberry, plum, rich fig, anise, vanilla, mocha and charred oak.
On the full bodied palate, bold, rich and youthful. Rich blackberry fruit, plum sauce, fig, and black cherry compote are met with a wave of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom spices that are followed by vanilla, violet, chocolate covered espresso beans and oak with hints of black licorice and earth. Tannins are ripe, grippy and somewhat powdery. Acidity is moderate, moderate-plus and the finish lingers pleasantly.
Overall should do well with more time but drinks well now
