January 21, 2024 - Another excellent 2012 Selyem. They really had a great year but the wines took a long time to reach their potential. As many notes atest, drinking it early was a mistake.

Bought from the winery and personally cellared since. Decanted for maybe 1 hour. Beautiful bright red, some sediment. Very slight brown tint at edges. Fully mature tannins, beautifully integrated with fruity acidity, resulting in a very supple wine. Lots of red fruit on the nose. Wonderful with a slow roasted leg of lamb.

September 3, 2023 - This bottle was virtually identical to our previous bottle about 6 months ago. Based on that TN, this bottle was decanted for 30 minutes (with slight sediment) during which the wine opened and darkened. Notes of dark red fruits and some earth on the nose. Lots of black cherry, along with some red cherry, cranberry, earth and spice on the medium bodied palate. Juicy but balancing acidity, with all tannins integrated. This wine should continue to hold but no reason to wait.
