June 30, 2018 - This BBS was a beautifully crafted, brooding but sultry beast, strikingly indicative of the best of what can come out of the alluring 2012 vintage and the Stagecoach site. Sexy black core fruit, haunting dark chocolate, and dark black spices (clove and anise predominantly). Hints of sweet cedar and black soil also emerged. A perfect mid-palate, with a rolling thunder back end that pushed flavor and massage-like intensity on through the finish. A superb example of Stagecoach, with elevated complexity and depth.
Served next to a 2013 Christopher Tynan Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vines Meleagris Gallopavo, which was way more bound-up and constricted than this VV BBS. Both wines were great to geek-out on because they varied so much in their respective profiles. I loved both, but the VV BBS certainly offered much more upfront flavor and luscious, hedonistic gratification. Drinking great now!2 people found this helpful Comments (4)
