October 14, 2019 - Tasted over two lovely days in Zermatt, toasting the Matterhorn's singularly majestic beauty at regular intervals. A lovely Bordeaux, vivacious and wholly unpretentious.

Exuberant, and chock full of baby fat upon pulling the cork. Recorking the bottle and waiting for the following day was the only real option. As expected, the wine delivered striking composure, form, and tension on the second day. Certainly forward, though not lacking for traditional markers. The mid palate delivers impressive range and depth, with powdery tannins making their mark at the back. The wine finishes with floral and red-fruited notes, carried by an intriguing sheen texture.

It can age for a decade from now, probably longer, and it needs three to five years to show its best. Pretty, captivating, unique.

September 29, 2019 - Not the strongest vintage for this wine. Light and red fruited. Needs a big decant. I usually get darker fruit and gravel from this st. Julien. But not this bottle. Its pleasant and filled out as it aired. Raspberry, plum, some earth. One left. Give it 5 years.

May 26, 2018 - Tasted this wine at the Chateau Branaire-Ducru Tasting with Francois-Xavier Maroteaux at the Tower Club as part of the International Congress of Chinese Cuisine & Wine (ICCCW).

Dark purple in colour. Nose of rich prunes and licorice. The petit verdot is doing its magic by giving the wine its softness and roundness.

    Good intensity and well structured.

May 22, 2018 - Meh. To me, it's one-dimensional, showing a hint of brown sugar on the nose and syrupy cassis on the palate. Syrupy cassis in the next glass, too. For kicks, it later switches things up to . . . syrupy cassis. Everyone else seems to like it, though, so I'm probably wrong. Would've guessed New World, maybe Australia. I was only, like, 9000 miles off.
