November 17, 2023 - Wow this is a Pinot bruiser.Well made but doesn’t have any of the key Pinot elements of balance, intensity with nuance, and complexity the makes Pinot special. This is just everything dialled up to 11 for my taste. But YMMV
Nose: Blackberry, Black Cherry compote, black raspberries, rhubarb, icing sugar and a dusting of Asian spices
Palate. More of the same as the nose, but there’s a little bit of bite with green tea elements providing some counterbalance. But this is overshadowed by the almost sugarcane sweetness that flows through the mid palate. If I was diabetic I would be reaching for the insulin shot just in case.
It may be a case of getting to this too late with the acidity dying. Or it just could be not to my palate. But pinot is just not a grape you go to if you want a 14.2% powerhouse. A bit like you wouldn’t go to Alec Guinness if you wanted a key actor for a Sci- Fi blockbuster. Oh hang on….Does that work? -

October 19, 2019 - Decanted for one hour, but it needed two hours to open up, and it was much better with the air. Dark garnet and brick color with no trace of age; lovely and big fragrance profile of tea, rhubarb, red berries; also very good on the palate, but with a bit of (oak or extraction?) creaminess and alcohol intruding; very, very long, vinous and bittersweet mineral finish. The finish alone makes this wine excellent for sipping over a very long evening. Overall, this is a wine, of substance and quality, which I would very much like to have again in 3-6 years. However, it is a bit too big; it would be better if they dialed back the alcohol and oak (and also the price ). Much better on night two!

June 8, 2018 - Translucent crimson color. Coquettish nose of sweet red and black fruit. The palate is a bit restrained; this is clearly a cooler-climate Pinot Noir. The fruit is well balanced with rocky mineral underpinnings and elegant acidity. In total this is understated, serious and enjoyable; call it the vinous opposite of Jar Jar Binks. This would be worth cellaring for another 3-5 years, meesa thinky.
