November 18, 2021 - Dark Garnet color. Toasted coffee beans, Forest floor, leather, blueberries, tabacco, vanilla, integrated oak, slight spice on the nose. Earth, spice, licorice, tabacco, cranberries, dried cassis, very dry enjoyable finish. What a nice bottle! The window is here, but will age gracefully as well.

June 20, 2021 - Plenty life but entering window imho. Great stuff

January 20, 2018 - Château Haut Condissas, Médoc, 2014: I could never understand why this wine is so much under appreciated among wine writers. Apart from the “black vintage” (2013) this wine is a match for many grands crus classés on all accounts: aromas, body, texture, balance, structure, complexity, as well as aging ability. The 2014 is a remarkable wine. Tasted twice, after 4 hours and 22 hours decanting, respectively. Dark garnet towards purple in color. On the nose, aromas of freshly turned earth, barnyard funk, wood smoke, freshly-picked, ripe blackberries and cassis. Full-bodied, nicely yet not overly extracted. On the palate juicy, ripe blackberries and black currants, followed by black truffles, pencil shavings, medium acidity with searing, slightly powdery tannins as well as notes of chocolate-covered espresso beans on a very long and mouth-filling finish. Certainly the most approachable wine among its peers yet built for the long haul. Drink 2020-2029. 14% Abv. 92-93

October 1, 2016 - In some other vintages, I have found this a bit over done, over "maquillé" as the French say, but this vintage is quite appealing in that the acidity of 2014 balances things very well. Good job.
