May 28, 2019 - My 3rd of 3 bottles purchased at auction. Opened, but not decanted, for 60 minutes before pouring at a NYC steakhouse. We had this alongside a magnum of 2007 Paolo Conterno Barolo Riserva Ginestra, and we could not pick a favorite. Long finish. Probably had years of life ahead of it.

April 30, 2019 - Best bottle (Restaurant Waldhorn, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Gabriel Standard
Decanted for about 90 min. Deep ruby color. The complete opposite to the harsh 08 Mouton. Round, soft, well balanced, but with a good, medium+ acidity and silky velvet tannin. Very juicy, lots of black currant and cassis, some herbs and wonderful spices (white pepper). Long and lingering finish. Still young, with at least another decade of improvement. 93-94+

June 29, 2018 - How can I say this? Il Caberlot is one of my favorite wines, but not last night. This bottle was a one note orchestra throughout this 3 hour evening. Decanted from the very beginning, but it never budged. Single, nice note, steady, never changing. Big disppointment. Hoping for much better on my next bottles.

February 15, 2018 - Shared this with my wine group at a NYC steakhouse. A big hit, and WOTN for a few of the group. Dark color, notes of blackberry and a big hit of pepper on the finish. The finish was medium-long, which for me costs it a point. But its a big, rich wine, and really nice to drink while having some steak.

May 9, 2017 - Decanted, from a magnum (I think its only available as a mag), and allowed to sit for about 45 minutes before my 9 person wine group tried it. Very smooth, and well balanced. Obviously showing some age and maturity, but in a good way, as opposed to being past its prime. I'm not sure how much longer I would hold onto it, but for me, last night, it was the WOTN. A long finish.

(Podere Il Carnasciale Il Caberlot) From magnum - very dark red violet color; very appealing, tart roasted black fruit, charcoal, lavender, black and white pepper, orange peel nose; delicious, focused, harmonious, roasted plum, pepper, lavender, mineral, espresso palate with medium acidity, like a great Allemand Cornas; delicious now and should go 25-plus years; long finish 96+ points
