April 30, 2023 - Drinking very nicely. Some slight bricking. Wine opened up over a couple of hours. Medium bodied with some white-peppery spice.

December 16, 2022 - A compelling Syrah, at a mid point in its development.

Intensely Rhone nose. Charcuterie, gamey spicy notes, with whispers of herb too, circling black plum and berry notes.

Astonishing palate texture. A tapestry of fine, complexly threaded tannin, woven through finely articulated red and black berries. The medium bodied fruit allows the tannin needle work to show through. Immaculate line and length. I can’t recall more intricately finessed tannin in any Aussie Shiraz. Beguiling. And will get more so over the next decade and beyond.

June 23, 2022 - Lovely wine. It’s delicate, classic cool climate white pepper. Every sip brings interest and new layers. Classic Clonakilla that isn’t really showing it’s age just yet, should go the distance

August 30, 2021 - The 2013 Clonakilla Syrah was outstanding - complexity and interest plus, although im not sure it would be everyone’s cup of tea. Lots of mushroom, forest floor, herbal complexity, amongst peppery dark cherry and berry fruit. My only qualm was the caramel hit of oak which didn’t much suit the wine, although I’m been picky. Superb depth and length. Quite the wine.

September 27, 2019 - Delightful cool climate syrah, very northern Rhone. Lovely freshness and balance.
