Community Tasting Notes 14

January 8, 2023 - Decant for sediment to dark purple in glass with light bricking. Aromas of dark berry, raisin, slight green pepper, and plum as it gets air. Palate of dark berry, leather, currants initially with lighter notes of tobacco and dry leaves with air. The tannins are fully resolved and get a slight grip with air. A low, but balanced, acidity clear to a long plum and leather finish. I was a little surprised by the community score. Overall, slightly one-dimensional but well developed and enjoyable.

June 10, 2022 - Still drinkable, but really beyond its drinking window. Too much wood at this point. Drank some and discarded the rest.

May 1, 2021 - After 21 years, the fruit is still the top note. Cherry nose and taste. Soft tannins. Medium mouth feel. Long finish. Paired well with grilled salmon, noodles, and fiddleheads.

May 26, 2013 - Opened this wine and poured immediately. Smooth, mellow flavors at beginning, gaining more astringency as it went on. Overall, unremarkable but decent.

  • Flamemark Likes this wine: 79 points

December 24, 2012 - Thin, astringent, fruit came out with some time open.
