June 12, 2016 - Served right at 7c/45f (12.5% abv, screw-top) with entrée of Chicken Cordon Bleu & asparagus. Nice yellow coloring in the glass. Nose of apples. Crisp & refreshing taste of Citrus and mineral, leaving a hint of pepper on the tongue. Appropriately tart with a nice lingering finish. Detected a hint of bitterness coming through as it warmed.

Good reasonably-priced Gruner. A perfect accompaniment to the entrée and strong enough to stand up to the asparagus. Would buy again.

May 14, 2016 - Typical Gruner i.e. green apple and white pepper on the finish.

This one is super steely and lean. Makes Chablis feel like a fruit bomb in comparison. Needs some greasy food to really shine. Fried chicken empanadas did the trick.

February 17, 2016 - Good, solid. Typical Anton Bauer, reliable choice.

February 10, 2016 - Different from most of the white wines we are exposed to on a regular basis in a welcome way. Deep rich golden color. Talc or chalk with apple peel on the nose. Austere yet vigorous and flavorful. Unique and expressive apple, spice and citrus fruit in a highly enhancing, metallic, earthy, mineral base. Stylishly integrated, extra big acid from lips to finish. This is pretty tasty Gruner for around $14.

    December 22, 2015 - Color: Pale grass-green.
Nose: slightly reductive nose; sulfur on the nose that, when blown off, releases faint hints of grass clippings and perhaps white pepper? Not consistent with the pepper notes.
Flavor: Light notes of sour green apple and star fruit. The finish trails with some acidity on the end.

Better the second night. A serving suggestion: pop open the screw cap, re-cap the wine, and keep in the fridge for an additional hour (have the wine nicely chilled before doing this). After the hour, hopefully the acidity will have retreated somewhat and the wine will be more palpable.
