Community Tasting Notes 5

December 20, 2015 - This is about a $24 Oregon Pinot, so we expect a wine with the complete package, which this one does handily. The nose is floral with a noticeable dusty character that indicates something to follow. The tasting profile starts off with the elgance and delicacy the thin skinned Pinot grape is knowm for. The light and dark cherry fruit is forward, fresh and approachable. We get our money's worth with the subtle but important secondary flavors of bark, wet earth, wet stones and licorice. Even more complexity is added by the sneaky, considerable tannins that are evident on the nose, sort of stay out of the way on the entry and mid palate, but leave a super dry finish. This is not a simple wine. A decant would surely help. Nice job combining some nice upfront fruit with all the other stuff that make a quality Pinot.

November 17, 2015 - Red fruit and floral nose and in the mouth. Fairly bright with with nice acidity. A little thin without much going on in the core. Nice 'budget' 2013 OP

October 14, 2015 - I think if this one comes in at under $20 it's offers a great value in pinot. It's got great balance between fruit, spice, and some earthiness.

August 12, 2015 - Nice flowery notes but a bit dry for my tastes. Some strawberry flavors, but otherwise not a lot going on. Overpriced imo.

August 7, 2015 - Nicely crafted for its price point, the 2013 Andrew Rich Willamette Valley Pinot Noir offers up welcoming aromas of rose petals, strawberries both fresh and jammy, dried orange peel, and underbrush. Silky and easy-going on entry, this proved to be a good choice for a friend who dislikes red wine (she managed to down the entire glass without wincing). Sporting moderate acidity, brambly red fruit and pie cherries set against a backdrop tinged with sandalwood. 13.0% ABV
