September 22, 2023 - Reductive, floral aromatics. Spiced, balanced palate. Quite the length. A wow wine.

February 25, 2023 - An Amazing Rousseau-based Burgundy Dinner with the Seattle Vinous Group (Seattle): The lightest in both color and weight of the 3 Clos de Bèzes. Explosive, high toned, stemmy aromas with some florality. Over time, the stemminess recede and more light red fruit came to the fore. Light to medium weight, crunchy, tart red fruit, green herb, high but well integrated acidity, rising earth on the finish, and light tannins. The most lean and mineral wine of the vertical, but this evolved nicely, with the acidity becoming less prominent and its flesh easier to appreciate. Outstanding in its own style.

September 2, 2022 - Great bouquet, the lean fruit has put on a little weight vs 4 years ago when I last tasted it was short and tart. I think this is about as good as it gets. It is never going to follow in the 91s footsteps. Not quite as good as the 02, and both were just shy of what you’d hope for from this bottling

August 11, 2022 - After a lackluster bottle of the 96 Beze in 2020, this is back to absolute prime time. Arresting, gorgeous nose - voluminous and perfumed, featherweight despite its endlessly unfolding presence. Cherry, star anise, a touch of game, rose, petrichor like freshness. Utterly dazzling. Dances across the palate just as elegantly as it delights the nose. The spirit of burgundy.

June 11, 2022 - In a great place but still feels a little early. Hedonistic and explosive.

Burgundy-Report

(Rousseau Armand Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze) Deep colour. Nose is closed, though higher toned than the Charmes. High acid, medium tannin, indeed, leaner and less ‘thick’ than the last wine. Not a ‘big’ wine, but very, very long finish. Much ‘fresher’ when compared to the Chambertin - next.
