Community Tasting Notes 8

December 12, 2021 - needed a good 2+ hours in the decanter. initially it was all wood on the nose as well as the palate. eventually some fruit came out but seems to be fading. Others mention to hold but I'm not sure the fruit will be there

September 24, 2021 - Purple fruit, plums, deep inky notes, a tad sweet and toasty oak spice, attractively perfumy. Fairly high cab. franc component, which adds a nice merde factor, typical of the grape to the package. Fruit is ripe but not overtly so, medium minus acidity and slightly gum drying tannins. Good long finish. May lack something in the precision sector but, especially considering the price point, this is highly recommended and drinking well now, no need to hurry though.

August 20, 2021 - Decanted and drank over two days. Medium body, some bricking. Nose of raisins and some wood. Begins with cherries and dark chocolate, then lively tannin, bitters at the end. Short finish. Rather harsh, overall.

Update: I let decant for a 3rd day, which changed the wine. Tannins and acidity less lively giving way to more forest floor and black fruit. If I had more I would hold for few more years. Upgrade from 88 to 89; don't like to neutral.

September 7, 2020 - Took about an hour decanted to open up. Nice structure, good finish. Graphite, charcoal. Subtle perhaps faded fruit, black currant. Still fairly tannic. Drinking well now, but should hold up for a while.

December 6, 2018 - Still on the primary side, with polished but plentiful tannins, for a finish more drying than grippy. A bit closed at first, and never fully opened, but obviously the more it was able to breathe, the better it got. The thing that impressed most was the remarkable purity of fruit. For our taste, this needs ten more years in the cellar for full development.
