September 11, 2022 - 200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Nos of pear, apple, rich, ripe, too ripe with Pina Colada flavors which alwasy points to too much ripeness in white Burg.

February 1, 2019 - In fine fettle, fresh and mineral and with beautiful aromatic evolution, lemon peel, flowers, only a hint of nuttiness, intense and lively, quite structured but well integrated oak, deep minerality, long and intense finish. Amazing stuff, fully mature of course but with time in hand.

June 29, 2018 - Excellent wine. This lost to the '99 Leflaive, but not by that much. Accounting for price, this is a big winner in its own right. Served blind.

  • Alex G. Likes this wine:

June 30, 2017 - Chevalier-Montrachet Lunch (Phoenix, AZ): Chalky mineral finish, nervosite, smooth finish. Good, but not at same level as '99 Cabotte.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Chevalier-Montrachet) Medium golden yellow color; big, minerally, cream, oily nose; tasty, oily textured, mineral, cream and chalk palate; medium-plus finish (kept building as the 2 hour lunch wore on)

Burgundy-Report

(Bouchard Père et Fils Chevalier-Montrachet) Bouchard are significantly the largest owners in this vineyard with 2 of the 7.3 hectares. The vineyard which is in Puligny lies just above Montrachet itself but is characterised by much stonier and chalkier soil. The wine had a completely different nose to the Corton-Charlemagne, more refined with an amazing depth of high toned fruits. The density in the mouth was very similar to the C-C but to a completely different effect. Whereas the C-C starts with a bang, the C-M is more sedate but then builds to explosion on the finish. A really fantastic wine.
