August 14, 2019 - fruit is still there, red, and focused. tertiary notes are present and as much as youd want. fundamentally the wine is interesting but lacks precision and freshness to age further. its good, but not great

February 5, 2015 - Delicious. Feral nose. Ripe, meaty, wild herbs. Long lasting on palate for vintage, though sharpness that keeps you from falling in love. Great with roast chicken and black truffles.

May 17, 2012 - Mature violet, slight bricking. First whiff is like opening a stable door; hay, manure, herbs. Second swirl reveals cold meats, ripe wild raspberry, blueberry, dried herbs. Medium bodied on the palate, great poise, forest fruits against tertiary flavours, good acidity, no tannins. Long, integrated finish. Perfectly balanced. Not a great vintage but this is great stuff, very powerful yet subtle, silently and patiently overwhelming you. Outstanding.

March 22, 2010 - red ruby color, with some bricking. nose of dark cherry, orange rind, leather, cedar, roasted meats. Complex flavors around slightly sour cherry including celery, herbs, leather, forest floor and minerals. Good with lamb. Surprisingly 12.5% Alcohol.

May 28, 2008 - Very seductive nose with herbaceous earth, wet moss and cherries. In the mouth, a lovely, linear flow of cherry and chalk, and good minerality on the finish. The tannins still had bite. I don't know whether the magnum has slowed the age or whether Philippe's cave at Fous D'en Face is particularly good, but this was beautiful Cabernet Franc with plenty of legs left.

April 24, 2008 - I think it is slightly over the hill. Most of the fruit was gone, and it had a very light body.

    No tasting notes.

February 17, 2006 - Nice complexities, but fruit has declined.. Should have had it a few years prior

October 29, 2004 - Medium colour; fragrant nose, lovely Cabernet Franc typicity, sous-bois, stables, cherries and raspberries, bay leaf and a hint of cream, good depth; on the palate good old-vine concentration, firm 1998-tannins but sufficient roundness and a lovely Chinon-lightness, layered, rich and harmonious; excellent length. Finesse.
