June 11, 2023 - [Pop and pour.] A sweet floral nose explodes from the glass. This is a gorgeous sweet wine with perfect balance and harmony. Complex, with a long finish of peaches, apricots, and kumquats.

June 11, 2023 - From half bottle. This is in a wonderful place right now where the fruit's still remarkably fresh and vibrant, but it's also showing an array of more savoury smoky and creamy development. So much complexity and depth here, and impeccable balance with those vibrant '01 acids balancing the richness and sweetness perfectly. Even though this bottle had a frail cork and showed some light signs of seepage, there's lots of time ahead.

December 27, 2022 - Singing straight from the bottle. Mango, pineapple, dried apricot, peaches, enough sugar to manage a moderately sweet dessert, lovely acidity still. This is a great example of perfect auslese.

February 12, 2022 - Golden color and rich honeyed nose. So luscious to drink, shows some maturity but is holding up great and has plenty of acidity to carry on for years.

October 15, 2021 - 7th of 8 halves, pnp, perfect cork and level, as bottle noted in August, maybe fresher and with more upside. VF+ (19).

September 20, 2021 - Patio happy hour for the first weekday of our staycation, and what a way to start! Ripe peach, a dash of brown sugar and a cherry on top, it’s a peach upside down cake. Swish it around and there’s more spice, and the fruit gets more tropical. It’s never goes full pineapple/lychee as other bottles have, but this one had a really good cork, and no seepage issues, so perhaps staying a bit fresher, even at 20 years of age. There’s certainly no sign of a decline anywhere in the near or mid-term future, as the fruit is still strong, and the spice elements remain complimentary rather than dominant.

August 27, 2021 - 6th of 8 halves, pnp, perfect cork and level, back on top form, fresh, very complex and youthful if with little obvious upside. VF+ (19).

September 24, 2020 - Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: 3 Guys, lots of wine (@home): Glass: Zalto Universal
Tasted blind. Drunk over three days. From half bottle. Clear, medium golden color. Beautiful Riesling Auslese from Dönnhoff, that lacks a bit of tension and energy. Not as good as my last bottle. Very deep and complex, very long and almost immortal, but this one lacked a bit of acidity, which made it a bit sticky. Nevertheless a wonderful wine with potential for some more decades. 92-93

July 3, 2020 - 5th of 8 halves, pnp, perfect cork and level, darker, more baked fruit, slightly raisiny, starting to show age, amazingly unctuous, persistent and complex. VF (18.5).
