December 12, 2020 - It is a testament to the high elevation of the vineyard that this wine still holds together nicely. The vintage characteristics shine through (for the better or worse depending on your view of the vintage). Blue and black fruited with notes of game, coffee, cola and black tea. More aromatic than most 2003s (either in OR or Burgundy). Plush mouthfeel that’s spicy with a hint of warmth. Enjoyable

February 24, 2018 - 4th Saturday Brown Bagger (M&R's): Blind. Dried cherry, tea and just a hint of cola perhaps. Red berry fruit and cherry syrup on the palate. Finishes well. Easy to pick out as our last bottle of '03 Le Cadeau. This too had been quickly double decanted off its sediment about an hour before the flight was poured.

March 22, 2015 - Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Champagne, and some blinds (Chicago, IL): Served blind. Spinach, arugula, some green vegetable on the nose. Weird, huh. Maybe it's that tobacco thing that people keep talking about. Spicy, with moderate acidity. Quite earthy, and a bit of sur-maturite in the vein of 1997 red Burgundy: think stewed more than jammy. Really weird stuff. Couldn't make heads or tails of it.

September 29, 2013 - Nose of ripe fruit, wet soil and a hint of graphite. Clean and balanced palette. The acidity is nice but not over whelming. There are flavors of red fruit and dark chocolate. Nice finish. It has a few years to go. Very nice bottle.
