March 2, 2022 - Spot on with my prior note. This is drinking beautifully right now!

July 1, 2021 - Popped and poured at age 9 in July of 2021.

For the first half of this bottle, I was enjoying it just fine but not really falling in love with it. It was a little straightforward, one dimensional, and very indicative of a big juicy Washington Syrah.

But then something happened as we slowly worked our way into the second half of the bottle. It turned a corner and all of a sudden became a very layered and complex wine.

I had to laugh and commented to my drinking partner... You can show the utmost patience and keep a bottle in your cellar for the better part of a decade, but then if you're not patient enough to let it sit open for 20 minutes when you drink it, it was all for naught. I felt like I had wasted the first half of that bottle.

In the second half, a beautiful blueberry fruit blossomed along with flowers of violet and lilac. Laced with a little gaminess, a little tar, and that characteristic bacon fat note, it really peeled off and showed off its true colors. A nice, plush mouthfeel leading to a long, clinging finish without being cloying. Really balanced and nice. I really wish I would have decanted this wine for an hour before even taking the first sip and I beg you to do just that if you should read this and choose to open one of your own.

October 14, 2020 - Outstanding Syrah drinking extremely well at 8 years from vintage! Notes of violets, peppered bacon, blackberry, vanilla and hints of cigar smoke. Absolutely delicious, and very happy I was able to get another bottle at the winery last weekend! Drink now - 2027+.

January 24, 2020 - Needed a significant decant and aeration. Then, the rich flavors started to unpack. Dark red and black fruit on the nose, but there’s also some earth, some cedar, some spice, and something that’s like mineral-y or gunpowder-y. Medium body with an understated bit unyielding structure. Flavors tend to the fruit right off the bat, then some (Rocks, I think) funk, a bit of oak, and tannins. Finishes long.
