Community Tasting Notes 10

June 3, 2022 - shared with pat at selkirk manor. celebrating the end of the work week. i continue to prune the cellar of bottles with past due drink by dates. too much wine. not enough time. paired with sea food. no formal notes. from memory, this was a truly wonderful chardonnay. the winemaker's comments ring true. "....tension between fruit, minerality and acidity. ....silky smooth palate and tremendous depth. the wine continues to be in its stride. based on this tasting and parker longevity estimate, i will wait a year before trying the next one.

October 16, 2018 - This wine is doing rather well, yet you can tell that it's starting to hang on to the edge of the hill while simultaneously being pushed over by the later vintages and Father Time. Poured a darker straw color into the glass. The nose was dried herb and a little bit of tropical fruit. The entry was more rounded, but immediately a honey and dried herb note kind of hit. The fruit was more of a wilder, bramblier tropical fruit note with a touch of butter. This wine seems to be going more of the buttery route and more of the tertiary / mushroom way, as this sort of seemed to develop on the finish more when it was near room temp than when it was cold (initially it was served rather cold). I rather enjoyed this wine due to its complexity, although I cannot say that would be the case in the next 2-3 years as I feel it is starting its downward slide. Drink now.

September 3, 2018 - Light yellow color. Citrus on the nose, lemon on the palate. Moderate acid with strong finish.

July 31, 2016 - Very good for the price. Actually has character beyond the standard "Cali Chard". Think toned down Rombaur with added complexity.

May 30, 2016 - This is a seriously fantastic CA Chardonnay for the Last Bottle price of $25. There is a lot of precision and depth here, and fine acidity too. Got more complex over the evening and second day. We really loved it.
