August 14, 2021 - Clean, deep ruby in appearance.
Leisurely fat legs confirm a high abv of 14.5%.
Nose is medium blackcurrant, blackberry and black plum.
Secondary notes of vanilla, cedar and black coffee.
Tertiary notes of savoury mushroom, some saddle and barnyard.
Tannat tannins quite well resolved so drink now but still further ageing potential of five plus years.
A big, bold wine that requires a big, bold meaty dish (with plenty of garlic!) to parry its intense flavours. Alternatively try with some very smelly non-blue cheeses. -

November 24, 2018 - Very deep and dark. Intense black fruit and much fuller and richer than I expected from a Madiran. Mid-weight and mouth-coating. A wonderful surprise.

February 11, 2016 - This one is still on the young and burly side - at the moment the tannins and structure are somewhat dominated by the fruit. Drinking the 09,08 and 07 alongside it this is very much less advanced. Needs a couple more year. Good potential - lavender, black fruit. Powerful but not cloying.
