February 5, 2024 - Was a bit disappointed initially - seemed a bit uninteresting and lacking complexity. After a couple of hours in the decanter it did introduce some complexity. Overall it was nice but not great

July 26, 2022 - Another bottle with very similar impressions to in my note of May 2022. Top quality Bannockburn pinot noir presently - under screwcap - on its optimal drinking plateau. Everything you look for from this terroir. I would drink before (say) 2030.

January 5, 2022 - Three Felton Roads in Whanganui, NZ (New Year 2022): Vines 22 years of age; whole bunch 25%. Under screwcap. Colour dark ruby core with some watery garnet at the rim. Under screwcap. Musky black cherry, thyme, nutmeg, Asian five-spice and dried herb perfumes. Rich, full and concentrated. Vivid acidity and svelte, fine grained tannins. A suggestion of sweet cherries and berry fruit on entry but more savoury and earthy nuances across the mid palate. Generous with spherical tannins and blackberry, dark cherry, some black plum, clove and dried berry fruit notes with hints of espresso and cacao. Long, finishing dry and herbal. Drink from now to 2030+. A top Block 3.

December 25, 2020 - Christmas lunch, perfect partner for goose. Really good red fruit, some pepper and spice with a touch of clove. Usual Felton Road silky tannins. ****

August 19, 2020 - Denser and darker, in a good way, than the other NZ pinots we tasted. Dried herb notes as well as gorgeous fruit. Decent complexity. Hitting its stride now.
