February 11, 2018 - I was intrigued by the diversity of opinions on this wine. But since Bizot bottles barrel-by-barrel, it's not possible to tell whether the bottling I drank tonight was the same as that others have commented on. The label indicates that my wine was FUT J9. Initially, the wine was tannic in the way that so many 1999s have been in recent years, but it quickly opened up. Bizot uses 100% stems and 100% new wood (although not heavy toast), so it's not surprising that the wine recalls a Domaine Dujac wine under the stewardship of Jacques Seysses, which also was 100% stems and 100% new oak. The wine has oriental spice aromas and flavors along with strawberries and other red fruits in a medium-weight body. It is surprisingly unevolved for its age and should be still more interesting in 5-10+ years.

October 18, 2013 - Has big stalky, floral lift to the nose coupled with some smoke and beef stock development. The front half of the palate is velvety Vosne, the back half is rather raw and astringent.

April 8, 2012 - Lean. Mustard seed. Raw tannins. Some pleasant spice on the nose but ultimately not very good. Seems 20 years older than it is.

October 26, 2011 - somewhat muddy and soupy. but not totally unpleasant. this is just weird stuff. not sure what's up with this producer, but zero interest in finding out...
