December 31, 2023 - Delicious undeniably old world Bordeaux from where else? 2014 St. Estephe...The prize winner in 2014. Lots of melted chocolate, tilled earth, a hint of oxidized blood, iodine. Sort of masculine now and totally geared for the Bordeaux drinker in your circle. Drink!

November 12, 2023 - 13.5% abv, 40% new French oak. Lots of fun with this Bordeaux blend from the northernmost communal appellation of the Medoc vineyard. I often cross this Château on the shelves of the supermarket, sold at a very good price. So I was curious to taste this 2014. I decanted it two hours before the Sunday lunch. On the nose: very dark berries, a few pencil sharpener shavings and some smoky scents. It even has a touch of violet. The mouth is medium to full-bodied with an iron tincture at the entry, slightly spicy dark fruits, toasted brioche, a bit of dark chocolate, some dried leaves and a touch of graphite. Some signs of evolution are already there (tree bark among others), both on the nose and the palate. It finishes quite long on a beautiful minty freshness, some friendly, still present tannins and an earthy face. This is such a St-Estephe typical proposal, displaying a serious and austere profile, and this is an excellent value for money. You will be able to drink it with enjoyment over the next 5 years. I'm going to buy the last 2018s I saw yesterday.

May 28, 2022 - Opened last night. Again a superlative experience. Opaque black ruby with a red rim. Good red legs. Quite fragrant, with iron, iodine, and red fruits. And a bit of bubble gum. Firm, loamy, rich and even a touch ripe in the mouth. This is coming along nicely, and is really starting to show some secondary characteristics. Pretty finish. Another strong showing for this big-time bargain wine. 5-13-17-8: 93/100.

October 21, 2021 - This wine continues to impress, even in a pop and pour. Still extremely dark in color, only just beginning to sport a red edge. Nose is impressive, with very dark fruit just starting to open reveal some complexity. In the mouth, this is powerful, full-bodied, and filled with blackberries, earth, and rustic, almost harsh, black fruit. Needs more time to show how marvelous I believe it can be, as it is only hinting at such heights right now. A terrific bargain--at least at release price where I bought it--this should evolve and improve for at least another ten years, and then enjoy a long plateau of maturity. 5-13-16-9: 93/100.

July 12, 2021 - Theres absolutely no doubt that SE is making some of the best value wines out of Bordeaux today. A close second may be Pessac Leongon, but look no further for correct, old school iron clad wines. This one is filled with Bordeaux dirtiness and saint estephe soil. Its as if I am there...Great fruit to complexity balance with no wood in sight. Just fantastic...Drink now and over next 5 years
