Community Tasting Notes 11

May 21, 2021 - Starts off plain, almost watery, but once it opens there are layers of dark fruit and spice with good acidity - but then notes of mocha, black licorice and leather with a touchy earthy start showing up ... Tannins seem to grab the tongue, and the fruit dissipates rather quickly: there one minute, gone the next, but replaced by a long smoky finish. By my last glass it was smoky-mocha-coffee bean.

November 27, 2020 - Blackberry jam, cassis. Purple flowers. Very nice

November 24, 2020 - Similar to previous experience; perhaps developing some savoury notes too, but this still has time ahead; still big and dark if smoothed out a tad.

(Had a sip a couple days after opening, and it was still really nice but in a way that seemed more smoothed out with fruit/spice/leather like an old Italian wine. WAIT to open last bottle.)

May 2, 2020 - Bottle 2 of 2. Decanted 60 minutes. Medium-dark ruby, clear. Aromas of spice (cinnamon?), floral, candied red fruit, IRN BRU, rubber. M/M+ body, high acid, XD, medium tannin. Apples on the tail end. Not a whole lot of evolution since my last bottle, three years ago. Continue holding? Seems to have the acidity and tannin to keep going.
