September 22, 2021 - Decanted over cocktails. Wow! This is a very special wine, dancing pirouettes of dense flavor on the palate all night long with a never-ending finish. Notes include dense red and black currant, black pepper menthol, spring flowers, wild herbs. Tannins are supple and chewy. This has a unique profile that stands out from the great single-vineyard cult Cabs from Napa. Grapes are sourced from the best lots of all the winery's vineyards. Definitely worth trying if you can find it!

December 12, 2020 - Wow! At 7 years old, this wine is just starting to emerge even though it’s still very young. Opened our first of 12 bottles during a virtual Lot 1 2013-2017 vintage vertical tasting with Michael Eddy (winemaker). We gave it a 2 hour decant, and drank over the following 90 minutes. The wine is simply divine. I often describe the Lot 1 as Louis Martini’s Napa Cabernet to Penfold’s Barossa Shiraz based Grange. It’s about taking the best fruit available to the winemaker across all his/her holdings and making a singularly powerful, structured and concentrated wine. And the 2013 is the best vintage you can ever hope for. The nose is immensely concentrated, shows a lot of dark fruit and tobacco leaf. The purity and power of the fruit is just staggering and the finish lasts forever. Moderate acidity and the alcohol certainly hits the nose. The tannins are still firm and will continue to soften over the next decade. This is definitely a 30+ year wine. The only reason I didn’t give this a perfect score is that it is not yet showing tertiary characteristics to round it out. Can’t wait to open a bottle every 2-3 years and enjoy its evolution.

November 27, 2018 - natural cork with some leakage; clear deep dark ruby colour, with pronounced notes of licorice, cedar, baked plum & dark cherries. Dry, dense and rich, with low to medium acidity, round tannins and a long beautiful finish. Can't wait to open another bottle of this.

December 16, 2017 - Excellent. Served alongside big hitters like 2014 Larkmead LMV Salon and 2010 Hall Kathryn Hall.

September 22, 2017 - Deep and dark purplish red. Layered nose with some new French oak influences. Notes of cinnamon, pencil shavings, dark red berries, dark bitter cocoa and cassis. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Needs a bit of time to beef up and integrate further. Layered palate with bramble berries, black cherries, blackberries, spices and tons of crushed gravel. Long and lingering finish. Drink from 2018 till 2033. (93+)
