Community Tasting Notes 74

  • cubswinws Does not like this wine:

January 29, 2024 - Deep yellow and quite austere. Honey and touch of petrol but not really drinkable to me. Cellared since release.

September 18, 2023 - (mag) In large format this was drinking quite well. More stones and petrol than fruit, but there’s some white peach and grapefruit to keep it from being too austere. Long finish. A-/B+

August 6, 2022 - A Fantastic Thai Meal with Some Cracking Wines (San Francisco): Magnum. Medium yellow. Glorious mixture of mature Riesling aromas and classic stone fruit and black tea. Authoritative feel and great drive despite not being too dense or heavy. Finely etched but beautifully round and filled out at the same time. Dry and long. I hadn't really thought of the '99 Frédéric Emile as being a particularly strong vintage, but bottles over the last 4 or 5 years have convinced me otherwise. This was probably the best it has ever shown for me-just stunning tonight.

April 1, 2022 - På nese - sødme, petro, fersken. Lukta som «en ganske bra, men litt kjørt» søt riesling. I munnen en annen vin; tørr, glassaktig munnfølelse, bittelitt petro, sitron, kaffe. Ganske schizofren men nydelig moden riesling.

February 2, 2022 - First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served blind.
Honeyed, aromatic, a little apricot, rose petal. medium plus acidity, a little textured mid grip on the palate, fruit a touch muted, there is a touch of bitterness on the finish.
I guessed Austrian Riesling with age, late 90's
