    April 11, 2024 - Consumed as part of Grand-Puy-Lacoste vertical tasting 1990-1996-2000-2005-2009-2012-2015.

In my opinion the winners of the night were 1990, 1996 and suprisingly 2009.

2005 was really closed and I will wait at least 5-7 years before touching it again. Makes me think that CT drinking window ending at 2032 is way too early. This will easily fly to 2040's.

April 4, 2024 - Easter dinner paired with lamb. This was a bruiser of a wine in its youth, and the window for opening these is just arriving.

Nose: Gorgeous graphite, truffle, cedar and blackberry with sandalwood and leather. An hour of decanting did wonders here. Palate: Generous and supple feel with berries, plum, bit of leather and lots of graphite. Just a joy to drink. Finish: good length and polish, some wood still to integrate.

March 9, 2024 - I now think the bottle drunk a year ago was a bit of anomaly and these were more what I would expect from a 2005 - rich and powerful with fabulous depth but need five years plus - will be sensational

February 9, 2024 - Excellent bottle and lots to like! Popped 2 hours in advance and slow ox-ed in bottle. Ripe sweet dark cherries, plums, cocoa powder, liquorice, earth and graphite. The warmth can be felt. Very expressive/vibrant and demonstrating lots of opulence from the get go. Plush and fine body, for me, this straddles the sweet spot between primary and tertiary. Tannins are dusty and refined. For the going price vs more aristocratic names, this is superb and worth keeping a case or two.
