January 25, 2022 - We do have to say this is not our style of wine, the ripe juicy new world Pinots don't resonate well with us. And this was in line with that , juicy, ripe , sweet undertone, spice. One needs to like the style . 89-90

December 18, 2020 - 100% Native yeast fermentation with 12% whole clusters; Aged in 100% FR oak (40% new) for 10 mos; 580 cases released Fall 2016.

Decanted for ≈ 45 min into a plastic cylindrical pitcher which was then capped; However, given that this was NEVER as aromatic as when 1st decanted, it probably should have been PnP'd, or IF decanted, CERTAINLY < 45 min. NO visible sediment, though bottle had only been upright ≈ 5 hrs; Private Preserve used after Day 1.

N: Cherries with notes of spice, an herbal component, distinct toastiness, poss with a tad of smoke?

P: LM body; Nice frt met by an astringent pucker which fairly seamlessly transitions into a LONG, initially VERY slightly bitterish finish which ULT shows an alluring, bitter/swt firmness to the few tannins, providing an enticing counterpoint to the night's Spicy Marinated Skirt Steak. While drinking nicely now, it may not have yet peaked, & should be a candidate for its 10th.

// Day 2: Aromatically, toast/choc SLIGHTLY atop ripe berries with hints of spice/smoke? P ≈ Day 1, & has held well. However, it didn't match up at all well with our Chx Picatta (Macaroni Grill): A *small* sip with food clearing the palate nicely, though ANYTHING > emphasized the wine's bitterness/structure. Therefore, I'm thinking this fairly substantial style needs beef or other meat entrées to be @ its best.

∑: 14.3% ABV; My EXC-, but > POSS still to come, + at least approaching its 10th? 95 pts WA & 92 WS. [As of late Dec '20, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $60].

    Note: Also tasted on 8/18/18.

April 20, 2020 - - Ruby color with medium forming legs. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Leathery texture with a long finish - I consumed a Bottle of this beautiful wine tonight.

April 19, 2020 - My 4th bottle of this spectacular wine, it just continues to improve. Deep, rich fruit profile with nose of leather and black currant. I'll save my last two for a few more years, there's no need to rush.
