November 25, 2023 - Drinking well. Primary and some secondary traits. Nice finish. Ripe blackberry fine tannins.

November 5, 2023 - Pleasant. Well balanced. Very merlot. It has a nose, but hasn't developed those aromas or a taste profile that would lead me to immediately dub it as Bordeaux if it were served blind. Still, drinking well, it didn't seem to evolve much from about the half hour open point through 5 hours open.

February 3, 2023 - Buried this once and for all. Bought Lucia 2005 by the case en primeur at $44 per bottle at the most. Not one gave me any pleasure, unlike the 2005 Duffau-Lagarrosse Chateau Beausejour, which captured my heart after a very rough beginning. I traded in a couple of Lucia and they are now selling for $92--really? Tight without any nuance whatsoever, just a gob of indecipherable fruit and tannin. If I remember correctly, this was near Pavie Macquin in Saint-Émilion and a long drive uphill. Good riddance, will never buy it again.

November 30, 2022 - A very nice bottle of wine. We had to use 1/4 cup for cooking. Nose was very seductive and laid back. Subtle red fruit along with vanilla. Incredibly smooth. Compared with New World this was a silky, quiet, yet firm beauty. A gentle giant of a wine. We really enjoyed it with Portuguese Paprika Chicken Chorizo Potato casserole.

September 5, 2022 - This was a much better showing than a bottle three years ago. This one tasted like Bordeaux, albeit one a bit younger than this is. Tannins are in good balance, it has developed some bottle bouquet on the nose. This didn't strike me as overly weighty or modern, unlike the last bottle. I think this can age and improve over the medium term based on its balance
