November 16, 2023 - No decant; 19c; translucent coppered color; sterile nose (delicate raspberries and pinks after a day); tight, tight grip, ripping tannins, with subtle fruit and an ass-kicking finish (borderline astringent); schisty, iron well water, raspberries, strawberries, cloves, juniper (hints of gin); drinks like a great Gattinara or Carema; impressive, (and drinks better the day after) but won’t improve with time; 18

  • chokkon Does not like this wine:

November 15, 2023 - Really shot. Poured it down the drain. Needed to be enjoyed young.

  • jnewman77 Likes this wine:

August 20, 2023 - Very nice. Opened and became more elegant with air. Still plenty of fruit, mint, floral. And plenty of tannin. Good now or for another 5-10 years

July 14, 2023 - 18c: no decant; clear, copper color; feint nose; rasping attack, tannins overriding the fruit; schist, raspberries, dried cherries; this is fading; 16.5

September 18, 2022 - Dehydrated red fruits. Raspberry and rhubarb youthfulness right up front. This went particularly well with the butternut squash soup where the herbal character of this one sparred with this wine. But the raspberry tart is where the tomatillo salmon said 'hold my beer' and took over. The sweet tomatillo salmon character paired with this wine quite well. Let's keep in mind that this nebbiolo is not quite 10 years old and was going all out. I feel this one is going to start declining in the next couple of years, so if you have it, it's time to start drinking up. Solid 91 for now.
