Community Tasting Notes 5

April 21, 2013 - Disappinting. Fruit almost gone, with a somewhat medicianial taste. Little finish. Smooth, velvety mouth feel and some other redeeming qualities, but not a "92". Did not get better as night wore on. Will drink up.

April 9, 2012 - Nothing great. Color was thin. Tasted old and lifeless.

December 11, 2010 - Very well balanced wine, drinking nicely.

May 2, 2008 - When I purchased this wine, I figured it was a no brainer. Great vintage and reputable producer. I had the first of three bottles last night. Popped and poured. Nose was average at best. Really can't pinpoint the fruit, but there was something. The first glass was weak. Smooth, but lacking everything. I hoped that the second glass would show improvement, but it was worse. I hope the next 2 are better. Not sure if I should drink soon or hold.

April 26, 2008 - Deep dark red fading to clear rim. No sign of ageing, but not purple.
Exotic nose, persistent fruit, tannin, spice, perhaps a little alcohol.
In the mouth, lovely concentration but not huge. Silky mouthfeel but normal viscosity. Tannins are rounded not linear. Red, plummy ripe fruit, unforced. Tannins underpin the fruit finish, but do not dominate. Very long in the mouth, harmonious, succulent finish.
Has a good life ahead (e.g. will improve next 5 years) but tremendous now.
