October 27, 2022 - Nice cherries but acid was high and out of balance, even with food. I suspect this bottle may have been off; after removing wax, the cork was very soft and had to use an ahso to get it out. Purchased from Benchmark wine about 2 years, disappointing QPR at $90 USD.

February 3, 2018 - In the right context this is a special wine. I paired it with papas bravas and romesco with fried capers to match the briny notes. The wine is dark ruby in the glass and was very giving tonight. Big nose with multiple layers of flavor including tapenade, star anise, lavender, and charcuterie. I love the polish and delivery, full bodied and purely structured without being at all over the top. The profile is quite distinct and it’s a bit wild, so I think it’s a wine you’ll either love or hate.

December 11, 2017 - Very nice dark fruited wine with loads and loads of green olive, anise and lavender. To me, the profile is decidedly old world but the structure (powerful and sleek) are a little more modern. Nothing sweet or extracted about it. A nice expression that begs for food. If old world Grenache is your thing, you will love this wine, but it’s nothing like Alto Moncayo for example.

November 29, 2017 - Nit de Nin. Porrera. Super modern looking. Succuelent visusl ripeness. A pleasue to swirl with chocolate mint green tannin. A touch sour on the finish. I do tend to criticise wine for sourness. Redeemed by sophisticatesly drying tannin asserting itself.

February 6, 2017 - Uncorked and splashed to a wide bowl and let sit for 1 hour. Very complex nose of underripe strawberry, clove, cracked black pepper, sour cherry, and a rustic earthy element. This wine is very primary and no where near ready for consumption. Serious and varied on the palate with spiced black/red fruit, tangy acidity, rhubarb, strawberry jam, and red licorice. The tannins need time to integrate here. I think my score rises several points with 5-7 years of age on this wine.

The wine takes a lot of interesting twists and turns the longer it sits in the stem. A great effort here with excellent new/old world characteristics living in harmony.
