May 28, 2023 - Light brown but still good taste if you taste it cold. Work as a pleasent gift to the host in the present of elderly wine lovers.

May 1, 2023 - Recht Süß, gute Säure. Mittlerer Körper und mittlerer Körper. Was mich stört ist, dass der Wein "bitter"/alkoholisch im Abgang wirkt und das stört.

September 24, 2022 - 4th Saturday Brown Bagger (EBCC): Standard bottle. Deeply colored- appears a little older than I would have expected. Stone frit, marmalade and honeyed tropical fruit qualities. Somewhat rich texture for a second label. Excellent value. Drinking very well, but clearly there’s no rush.

December 25, 2021 - Quick tasting note. Nice nose, quintessential Sauternes but with a nice level of autumn herbs and spiced, nothing to strong or heady, elegant but maybe a tad thin. On the palate you notice the thinness but it's well disguised as elegance and freshness. It's not too cloying. Not sure it'll age much more but for a second wine this is very good.

8/5/2008 (link)(CARMES Rieussec) Sauternes Dear Friends, Often expensive, Sauternes is a one of a kind beverage deserves a place in every cellar. Sweet, unctuous and full of energy a top bottle of Sauternes can be more versatile than most believe - it pairs with the ubiquitous foie gras but also a host of other savory dishes and (of course) with dessert. It can last for decades and an outstanding aged bottle of Sauternes is a heavenly experience. That being said, I'm not much of a sweet wine fan but a price like this turns me into one. Rieussec had outstanding material in 2005 and very little of it was second rate but they bottled a Carmes anyway - mostly to satisfy the European market (the Carmes is technically their second wine but, like Forts de Latour, it stands on its own). The European market consumes far more Sauternes than we do and this is aimed at those that want to enjoy Sauternes in the mid-term without waiting 20-30 years for the wine to reach its peak (most of it is purchased by the UK, Belgium, Germany and other regions of France). We can pretend we're European for an afternoon, can't we? There's not much to say, you get a bottle of Sauternes from one of the few class "A" producers in the region and it's every bit as good as many 1st wines: A great buy - this is not a half bottle, it is a full 750ml 2005 Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes (750ml) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Bord8110
