January 20, 2018 - Seymour Wine Club Meeting 1/20/18 (Home of the Slywka's): Tasted blind. This had a lot of matchstick on the nose when it first opened up but slowly wore off. Also had aromas of plum and grapefruit, which was strange. Flavors of plum, cherry and raspberry lead with way. Predominately dark fruits on this. Ends with a 25-30 second finish. I guessed a grenache blend from Chateauneuf du Pape. This wine finished 3rd on the night and I gave it 92 points.

April 6, 2016 - Grandes Pagos Tasting (Oyamel - Washington, DC): Smells plummy, spicy, earthy and peppery with some bacon fat, too. Silky/light tannins, low acidity, dark plums and sweet blueberry fruit. Oak and toast (12 months in new French oak barrels) are woven in quite well. Warm, jammy, with elements of bacon and pepper. Fun stuff for early drinking. 100% Syrah.
