Community Tasting Notes 4

April 30, 2018 - We decanted the wine for 30 minutes before we poured the first glasses. It was medium garnet in colour and offered sweet red fruit, cherry, dried cranberry, some dark berries, intense spice, blood/iodine, underbrush, smoke and roasted notes on the nose and on the spicy palate, with lively acidity, medium-level tannin and good length. The medium- to full-bodied wine finished on a combination of mild oak and a mild, minty lemon balm note. Initially, the wine seemed disharmonious and as if it lacked integration, but with air the wine became ripe, sweet, broad, smooth and balanced, backed by Pinot spice and underbrush notes, with good concentration. The wine reminded me of many Swiss and German quality Pinot Noirs and certainly grew on me over time. Hold or make sure to give it a long decant.

    February 18, 2017 - Private Preserve after Day 1

N: Some barnyd, mushrooms, with notes of cherries, & undertones of oranges

P: Med, prob MF, body; Nice frt on front with a firmness entering mid-P & extending into a LONG finish with notes of spice. Based upon today's taste, I'd drink this now if you're cellaring any. // Day 3: Held up VERY nicely, if ANYTHING, drinking even better than on Day 1?!? So, clearly DOES have the stuffing for addt'l cellaring! Also, today the N was plainly showing forest floor/mushrooms as opposed to barnyd.

April 13, 2016 - Hints of black cherry and blue berries herald a really nice aromatic beginning. Very good balance and finish. Content with this Pinot Noir.

November 16, 2015 - Full-bodied Carneros Pinot Noir featuring black cherry and cranberry. Perfect Thanksgiving wine.
