March 16, 2016 - The nose is red fruited, spicy and brambly. Notes of slightly candied cherries and strawberries. There's a light-medium mouthfeel that is slightly creamy. The tannins are polished and smooth with bright red fruit and zesty acidity. It finishes long, maybe a little thin and astringent with lovely tart fruit and an earthy spice. This is a wonderful food friendly wine with just enough acidity and younger, primary fruit. I have no idea how a Carignane will age, but I may hold onto my other bottle just to see where it goes, that is if I can keep my hands off of it. It is drinking really well right now.
