  April 9, 2018 - I've been turned off Ravenswood for years...starting with rude staff at the tasting room in a 2005 tasting and with all the bottles at different levels and prices, they have not impressed me that their wine is worthy of the price.
  This wine did nothing to change my mind, I have given them third and fourth chances... This was a basic, decent Sonoma Zin, varietally correct, but no particular depth or character that would make it worthy of a rating beyond a 88 and for the price there are better options. I question whether the wine in this bottle was from "Old Vines"; if so, they are the most inferior of Old Vines, got no Old Vine spice, etc.
  
  Wine Spectator just rated the 2015 Bogle Old Vine Zin - less than $10 a 87 and I would say it has more going for it than this. Sad.
  Ravenswood is basically mediocre and priced above quality at all levels.
