Community Tasting Notes 2

February 15, 2018 - Highly aromatic (one can smell the glass from across the room) with vanilla, soy sauce, grilled asparagus, roasted herbs. Underpinned by slightly bitter-tinged sour cherry fruit. Very pinot noir-ish in weight and style, but the profile of aromas and flavours is unique. Highly interesting, and scores "11" on complexity. However, not a "hedonistic" wine. More of an intellectual pleasure. I think it has probably slightly passed its prime at this point, and will begin to decline.

October 17, 2016 - Move over Côte-Rôtie! Bannockburn (famed for their amazing Pinots), have produced this uniquely light, highly aromatic, complex Shiraz, that hails from their cool climate, dry-grown (30 year average) vines. Halliday gave it a whopping 97.

And I can see why. It's very Bannockburn in style, thanks to 100% whole bunches in the ferment and the 2 yrs in French puncheons. Sweet, fleshy red and black cherry, strawberry, asparagus, earthy mushroom, sage, rosemary and black pepper combine on the fragrant nose and the sweet, fleshy viscous palate for a fine, lingering wine. Such elegance. It would be easy to mistake this for a premium Pinot Noir in a blind tasting.

It's still pretty young, with at least 3/4 years in the prime drinking window to go. I loved it. Hence, a Wozza 95.5/100 (4.3/5.0) from me.
