Community Tasting Notes 3

May 11, 2008 - This appears to be past its time. I opened the last one two years ago and it was sensational. While the color was still solid and vibrant, the fruit has faded, leaving a leather nose and flavors and slightly drying tannins. A note to this bottle was there appeared to be some storage issues as there were some signs of heat damage on the cork, but the fill was still above the neck and zero signs of seepage.

October 10, 2006 - Beautiful, perfectly balanced and integrated and flawless wine. Medium bodied, not of great density nor depth nor complexity but that isn't all that counts, as so many complex and dense wines lack the elegance and class of this wine. Exudes red fruits, plums and sweet earth. I'm sure many wouldn't score it as highly as I did but I find it to be excellent. So many 97 bordeaux are just like this - beautiful, elegant, enjoyable wines that simply aren't blockbusters or terribly complex but are all that you can ask shy of that.
