March 26, 2018 - Strong wine. Need to be kept a lot of time and need to breath for 2h+

August 12, 2017 - Will not rate as it's past its time and left in cellar. Realize I need to check closer to wines and dates than noted on this site. Now well educated on Amarone.

September 5, 2015 - Ok wine. Pale brown tint, lots of fall out. Quite nice raisiny tones lingering. Drank over two days, best day one. Probably well past its peak.

June 10, 2013 - Wine is much more evolved than I had expected. Very dark color, and a prominent - if not exactly classic - nose. Some off odors at first, giving way to licorice, leather, and tobacco. On the palate, it is already soft and approachable. Has a decent mouthfeel, and enough depth to give it some interesting play on the tongue. Lots of fruit, very ripe tasting, inviting. What makes it difficult for me to rate this wine higher is an annoying and persistent raisiny note on the finish. Yes, I know Amarone is made from raisins; but this is sort of like stale Fig Newtons. I don't really see this improving with more bottle age; I think it is already at or even past its peak. It was a little disappointing, even for an entry level wine, but that may be because I am old enough to remember what Amarone was like in the 1960s and 1970s. Don't get me wrong - this is decent enough wine, just not something I'd spend $40 or $50 dollars on.
