Community Tasting Notes 5

May 26, 2020 - Informal dinner. No notes taken. I was not a big fan of this wine, others at the table liked it better. What is missing here is a more complex aroma profile and a higher precision. In addition, the texture is a bit too far in the creamy and oily section. But make no mistake, it is still a good wine to drink and it goes well with a broad array of foods. The last time I've rated it 93 points but only after it opened up and got more complex with time in the glass. So maybe I just should have give it some air.

Decanting: Give it at least an hour in the decanter.

August 7, 2018 - Clean, medium intense, pleasing nose which gained power with some time in the glass. At first rather sweet fruit (quince) and with time clear and pure banana aromas. On the palate quince, lemon, fresh cut grass aromas and again bananas. Banana and some mineral driven long finish. Quite high aroma precision with medium complexity but high intensity. Good structure with medium- acidity and alcohol, full body, with a creamy texture but very soft, light and with a very good balance.

At first I thought the wine was a bit boring but with 30mins in the glass and a few extra degrees it opened up and showed more, more intense and more precise aromas but lost a bit of its softness. Nevertheless, I advise to give it some air prior to drinking. The highlight for me were the clear and pure banana aromas. Overall a distinctiv, good wine to throw into any white wine blind tasting with stars from other regions.

August 4, 2018 - BBQ Wine Tasting at friends (Zurich): Dry with calm acidity and a precise, beautiful set of fruits consisting of peach, lemon and quince which in the blind tasting context pushed me into the Grüner Veltliner corner. Initially very round and creamy on the palate, but over time in the glass lost some balance with higher acidity striking the mouth.

January 27, 2016 - On the nose floral, acacia honey, lanolin, tropical fruit – very pretty and showing real depth. Spicy, fresh, mineral – great mouthfeel and extremely well balanced , not too rich or heavy, but showing nice weight and intensity. A little tight still as well. Great length. 93-94+
