March 18, 2024 - I felt like tasting something new so I coravined a 2012 Arkenstone Obsidian. No regrets! This wine is rocking right now, and is in no jeopardy of dying any time soon. Nose shows plenty of violets, sweet potpourri, some leather and spice. Palate shows a plethora of sweet dark fruit and chocolate, with some tar, anise, spice and shades of forest floor and new leather. Palate showed smooth tannins and a medium long finish. Those seeking tertiary goodness should look elsewhere, but those seeking hedonistic pleasure from the purity of fruit need not look any further. Delicious and 95-96 points for my palate.

September 22, 2023 - See my previous notes. This is a special wine for sure. Drinking beautifully now and can probably go for another 5 or 10. But why wait. Drink up.

July 16, 2023 - PnP at cellar temp. The nose was amazing with blackberries and some spices. At first the fruit was in the background, hiding behind some tea and cocoa. It didn't take long for the fruit to emerge and balance everything out. Full-flavored with dark fruits, cocoa, spices, and perfectly balanced alcohol, tannins, and acidity. 94+ and I need to go try some other vintages.

February 5, 2023 - An ace wine - as you would expect from the price point. Very big, super concentrated Parker-esque Napa Cab specimen. High alcohol and very rich.

Cherry color with just a hit of bricking around the rim. Aroma isn’t super powerful but very rich: ripe blackberry, dark chocolate, some leather and mint.

Huge, concentrated flavor, heavy on the chocolate with a lot of black fruits. Clear mint and a very interesting, sweet-ish five spice flavor. Medium minus acid. Large but exceptionally well integrated tannins. Big body and lots of alcohol give it an almost port-like mouthfeel. Finish is long but not forever, with the five spices and chocolate lingering.

May 24, 2022 - Clear deep purple/garnet; clean medium plus nose of balsamic, dried figs, cocoa and cassis; dry; high acidity; high tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; pronounced flavour intensity; palate is tarter with addition of dried leather; long finish; drink now - excellent mix of fruit and tertiary; delicious and thought provoking; tasted at winery
