February 9, 2024 - 4th and final bottle, still delicious. Drank with garlicy Italian food. Hard to pick up some of the nuances. Great nose and flavor. Sorry to see it go, but bring on the next!

February 18, 2023 - Similar to the last note with a couple more pronounced flavors and smells

Opened and ran through a vinter.
This time I am getting bing cherry on the pallet. I think that the CH notes calls for blood orange, and i understand that, i was thinking a sourish amarena wild cherry. Still tasting great

Terrific nose. I think blackberry is coming through.

Great bargin for a terrific wine.

November 12, 2022 - Opened and ran through a vinter.
Terrific nose. Hard for me to pick out the exact scent, but maybe raspberry and or blackberry.

The mouthfeel is luscious, soft tannins, i could never imagine the higher alcohol content, as there is no heat at all. Lots of blueberry, strawberry, and mocha. Juicy, approachable, and easy to drink, with enough complexity for the most ardeent conisour. Medium length, soft finish. I am glad i have 3 additional bottles

February 23, 2019 - Dark, inky, long legs. The perfume of oak andd cedar come through. The dark fruits are there. Really nice, fuller in the mouth than most cabs.

    August 29, 2018 - Popped and did a fast 1-pass decant.

This is a dark red/black color with a pretty big dark fruit and cherry aroma. Taste follows the aroma nicely with black fruit and minerals, somewhat heavy in oak, with med-low acidity and smooth tannins. All in all, this is powerful, but still very smooth and balanced and even though it’s 15.2%, there’s no heat at all. I really do like wines from Monte Russo.

I’d give it 90/91 Points and a Very Good QPR. Not sure this is the “95” that Steve Heimoff gave it, I’m much more in the 90 Point camp of Wine Enthusiast. And while this is probably the most expensive Cameron Hughes I’ve ever bought (I like to get them from Costco with the substantial savings), this is also probably the highest score I've given a CH Cabernet.

July 29, 2017 - This wine is dark and concetrated. Decanted and poured over the next 2 hours. Fruit is compact and tight. Deep cassis and blackberrys, oak and cedar. Wait 2+ years to try. The last monte rosso from cam.
