March 25, 2024 - Always a treat. Truly still,in my view, the greatest Rioja produced these days. That incredibly alluring nose yelling long aging, Tempranillo dark cherry in that smokey ring, oak but not offensively so or modern in taste, and a long, slightly aged, mellifluous, medium-bodied long passage on the palate. Ready to start drinkng but several years away from flowering beyond its already somewhat complex corps.

February 22, 2024 - Needed air. Does not look or taste age 20. Medium bodied, full throated. Ripe fruit and tar dominates at the start, finishes with a delightful sweetness. Even better the 2nd day

    December 23, 2023 - 23.12.2023 - impromptu session at David’s place with L & A.
Decanted this for 1.5 hr at home before bringing over. At D’s place, we pour this another decanter.
Almost 2.5hrs when we approached this. Easily my WOTN. Exceptional dark & red fruit, sumptuous tobacco laced with some dark cocoa, hint of vanilla, some smoke & cigar box. Such fresh palate with lively acidity & well balanced wine. Elegant dried fruit with delicious savory & minerals. Velvety tannins with delightful layered finish

November 22, 2023 - Really drinking well at the moment. Have had the 904 from this vintage many times, and I can see this 890 is a slight nudge above. A fantastic Rioja now but plan to hold a couple of these back to see it evolve. 94-95pts

November 13, 2023 - Took an hour or so to blossom…next time will decant. But lovely….nice nose, complex and elegant…hints of spice and leather…long finish. If I had tasted it blind I would have been blown away - it is so good for the provenance and price (sorry!)!
